A service offered through the Lorain County Office on Aging to assist grandparents and other kinship caregivers.

Kinship Care is an initiative by the State of Ohio to actively address the needs of aging Ohioans and other kinship caregivers who are raising a grandchild or other relative, because the child's biological parents are unable to do so.

Our experienced, qualified and highly trained Kinship Navigators are here to help grandparents and other kinship caregivers to access resources needed to successfully raise a minor child.

Resources they may be able to help link a kinship caregiver and their families to include:

  • Legal Services

  • Medical & Healthcare Programs

  • Mental Health Services

  • Respite Services

  • Support Groups

  • Transportation

  • Information about Financial Benefits Kinship Caregivers May be Eligible to Receive

If you or someone you know has taken on the responsibilities of raising a grandchild or other relative, we can help!
